SEBRING, Ohio - Students, teachers, and staff will see a new tradition at Sebring Local Schools this upcoming school year.
Starting Wednesday, inspirational messages will be painted on the walls of the schools.
Superintendent Toni Viscounte said she hopes the motivational quotes, along with artwork will help promote confidence, tolerance, and acceptance.
"Somewhere inside all of us is the power to change the world," is a quote from Roald Dahl that's painted inside B.L. Miller Elementary. The quote, "Do the right thing even when no one is looking," is painted in the hallway at McKinley Junior and Senior High.
The inspirational messages aren't the only new things coming to the school district this year. Sebring Local Schools now offers STEM and Robotics courses and more College Credit Plus offerings. With the new Plus program, students can earn up to 42 college credit hours.
The district also hired a school resources officer and upgraded the security system with additional cameras.
There are new LED lights throughout all of the buildings, the gym floor has been refinished and there is also a new sound system at the Schaefer-Davies Football Stadium.
