Niles Police add pickup truck to fleet but some question its purpose
A new Niles Police vehicle is causing a bit of a stir.

NILES, Ohio - A new Niles Police vehicle is causing a bit of a stir.
The subdued graphics look on the F-150 Police Responder vehicle makes it less noticeable.
Niles Police Captain John Marshall tells 21 News, "I have seen a lot on social media, especially from people who are concerned that it's going to be used as some speed trap or some other type of traffic enforcement vehicle specifically designed so that driver's don't see it. What's wrong with that theory is that it's actually not why the truck was put into use."
The captain says people need to take responsibility for their own driving and not speed in the first place.
The new Niles vehicle is actually for one of the Niles Police Captains to use as his patrol vehicle. But he will also use it to haul a large trailer for training purposes since he is one of the primary training officers.
As for the subdued graphics?
"It was just kind of an experimental thing. We wanted to do something different," Captain Marshall said.
Police say they guarantee it's not a trick, however, if you do pass this vehicle speeding the officer does have a right to give you a ticket.
