HERMITAGE, Pa. - The Shenango Valley continues its Labor Day tradition at the community's 40th annual Buhl Day.

The event will kick off with a memorial service in Oakwood Cemetery to honor Frank and Julia Buhl at 9 a.m. Monday.

A parade beginning at Kraynak's will follow past the Hermitage Towne Plaza and into the park.

Some of the most popular annual events include a car show and a mermaid show at the pool with synchronized swimming performances.

Admission for this event is free.

Donations, however, will be accepted on Monday at the Buhl Day booth on Pokorney Drive near the Performing Arts Center.

At the Performing Arts Center:
11:30 a.m. - Dave Hamilton
12:15 p.m. - Opening Ceremony 
1:10 p.m. - Shenango Valley Chorale
2:00 p.m. - Michael Christopher Band
3:30 p.m. - Rex Taneri Orchestra
5:00 p.m. - Shenango Valley Concert Band

Butterfly Garden Stage:
2:00 p.m. - Children's Theatre
3:00 p.m. - Whalen Family Singers
4:00 p.m. - Brookfield Cloverleaf Square Dance Group

Organizers said Buhl Day began in 1916 when Frank H. Buhl gave his employees the day off on Labor Day and his employees thanked him by parading past his house into the park that he gave to the community.
