AUSTINTOWN TWP., Ohio - A former Youngstown Police Officer who already served time in federal prison was locked up behind bars again this weekend.

Peter Luchansky, 63, of Canfield, reported to the Mahoning County Jail on Saturday to begin serving a three-day sentence after pleading guilty to theft from Marc's store in Austintown.

Luchansky was arrested in June and last month pleaded guilty to petty theft of less than $1.

He was fined $150 and sentenced to 180 days in jail. The judge suspended all but three days of the sentence.

Luchansky, who was also placed on probation for a year, was fired from the Youngstown Police Department in 1983 for stealing two bags of shrimp from a grocery store.

In 2015 Luchansky was sentenced to three years and two months in prison after pleading guilty to a federal charge of mail fraud.

Prosecutors say Luchansky schemed to defraud a North Canton company out of nearly $2.5 million.
