Local Walgreens stores help community Check out Hunger
Walgreens stores in Mahoning and Trumbull counties will be participating in Check Out Hunger, which is part of the Harvest for Hunger campaign, through November 10.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Walgreens stores in Mahoning and Trumbull counties will be participating in Check Out Hunger, which is part of the Harvest for Hunger campaign, through November 10.
According to a press release, customers are able to make a $1, $5 or $10 donation at the register.
"We greatly appreciate Walgreens' participation in Harvest for Hunger this year," said Mike Iberis, Executive Director of the Food Bank. "Their efforts at 14 locations in Mahoning and Trumbull counties will help feed many hungry families in our community."
In 2017, Walgreens stores in the Mahoning Valley raised $13,299 through the Harvest for Hunger campaign, which enabled the Food Bank to provide 79,794 meals to hungry families in the community.
Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, a member of Feeding America, assists 148 hunger-relief programs in the tri-county area.
These include church pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, shelters for battered women, and after-school programs.
In 2017, the Food Bank distributed 10.6 million pounds of food, including three million pounds of produce.
