Valley Voting: Questions and issues
The Valley followed the example of the rest of Ohio in rejecting Issue One, which would have changed the state constitution to reduce penalties for crimes of obtaining, possessing, and using illegal drugs.

The Valley followed the example of the rest of Ohio in rejecting Issue One, which would have changed the state constitution to reduce penalties for crimes of obtaining, possessing, and using illegal drugs.
The issue was rejected by 79% in Columbiana County, 70% in Mahoning County, and 67% in Trumbull County.
Mahoning County Questions and Issues
Voters gave the nod to the Mahoning County Board of Mental Health and Recovery's request to renew the current expense levy with an increase at 1.35 mills for five years. Issue 3, a renewal for Children Services also passed by a wide margin.
Voters granted a request from the Austintown Township Police department to replace a 2.4 mill levy with a 3.2 mill continuous issue.
Beaver Township voters okayed an additional 1 mill for five years for the fire department.
The renewal and increase of a levy for the Boardman Township Park District failed by 259 votes.
The Jackson Township voters okayed another 1.5 mills on a continuing basis for maintaining the police department.
An additional 1 mill, 5-year levy in Smith Township failed by a two-to-one margin.
Poland Township is getting another 2.03 mills for 3 years for streets, roads, and bridges.
Poland Village and Township voters said "yes" to an additional 1 mill for a continuing period of time for the Western Reserve Joint Fire District.
People in the Village of Washingtonville voted to repeal the half-percent income tax.
Voters in two cities voted to amend term limits for their elected leaders. Youngstowners removed term limits for members of city council and President of Council. Canfield voters said "yes" to increasing council term limits from two years to four.
For the eighth time, Youngstowners rejected the Drinking Water Protection Bill of Rights that would ban the practice of "fracking" within city limits.
Voters accepted gas aggregation plans in Beaver, Berlin, Green, and Jackson Townships.
City of Campbell voters renewed 1 percent income tax for 5 years
Voters in the City of Struthers renewed a 3 mill, 5-year levy for streets, roads, and bridges.
Village of Sebring voters renewed a .5 mill, 5-year levy for recreational purposes.
Trumbull County Questions and Issues
Most of the issues in Trumbull County are money questions but there are a couple of exceptions in Brookfield Township and Newton Falls Village.
Brookfield voters rejected a plan to zone the unincorporated area of the township.
Voters in Newton Falls have approved charter amendments 2, 4, 5, 6, and 7, but rejected 1 and three.
Bazetta Township rejected 3 mills more for five years to fix roads and bridges. Farmington Township voters said "no" to 2.5 mills additional on a continuous basis for the same purpose. Newton Falls voters turned down an additional continuous 2 mill levy for roads and bridges.
Liberty Township said okay to replacing an existing road levy with a 12-year, 2.5 mill levy.
Voters in Hubbard Township rejected another 3.5 mills on a continuing basis to maintain police and EMS services.
Voters in Southington Township approved another 1 continuous mill for police and EMS.
Mecca voters denied the township an additional 1 mill for 5 years for current expenses.

Newton Falls Joint Fire District, EMS and ambulance, 2.5 mills, 5 years
Newton Township, cemeteries, .5 mill, 5 years
Warren Township, police, 1.5mills, 5 years
West Farmington Village, operating expenses, 6.6 mills, 5 years.
Columbiana County Questions and Issues
Voters in Columbiana County turned down a .75 mill, additional levy for Columbiana County Children Services. The ley would have generated $1,324,700 annually.
Washingtonville voters voted to repeal a half percent income tax in the village.
Two Townships want additional money for road levies. Elkrun said "yes" 1 mill and Wayne Township said "no" 4 mills.
Lisbon Village approved another 2.435 mills for fire protection. The Sandy Creek Fire District voters rejected 2 mills additional on a continuing basis.
In St. Clair Township, the 3.35 mill replacement police levy with a decrease of .64 mills as given the nod by voters. Its expected to generate more than half-a-million dollars.

Knox Twp. Homeworth Fire District - Fire levy, 1.5 mills, renewal, generating $68,700 annually
Knox Twp. Georgetown Fire District – Fire levy, 1.5 mills, renewal, generating $53,700 annually
Madison Twp. – Road levy, 2 mills, renewal, generating $43,200 annually
Madison Twp. – Road levy, 0.5 mill, renewal, generating $26,400 annually
Salineville Village – Current expenses levy, 3 mills, renewal, generating #32,500 annually
Salineville Village – Cemetery levy, 2 mills, renewal, generating $21,700 annually
Wellsville Village – Cemetery levy, 1 mill, renewal, generating $25,400 annually
Yellow Creek Township – Fire levy, 3 mills, renewal, generating $86,900 annually
