NILES, Ohio - The Eastwood Mall was busy before Christmas, and now it's busy again; this time with many people returning presents.

21 News headed to the mall Wednesday night to find out just how busy it was.

Wednesday afternoon and night the parking lots were extremely crowded.

Whether it's the wrong fit, the wrong gift, or trying to cash in those brand new gift cards on some after-Christmas sales, the mall was certainly bustling.

If you're heading out to bring in some returns, there are some things you'll need to know.

In most cases, stores will give you 30 days to make a return, but some popular chains, such as Best Buy or Apple have cut down on that time limit.

You'll need to bring the receipt. Some stores have the ability to look up purchases without the receipt, but you'll likely only be able to return the present for store credit or an even exchange.

Some stores, like Victoria's Secret or Best Buy, require a driver's license or other government ID to make a return, so be sure to bring it with you.

When it comes to electronics, Consumer Reports says don't open the box! Retailers typically tack on a hefty restocking fee if the packages are open, and some electronic products like DVDs and CDs can't be returned at all.

Gifts that were bought online are another story- you can return them in store, but most retailers require the invoice that shipped with the item.

As far as present bought from Amazon, the company says they mailed out return shipping labels just in case- so if you're willing to face the music, you'll need to ask the gifter for that slip.

When it comes down to it, Consumer Reports said if you can't return it, you might just want to consider regifting.
