LORDSTOWN, Ohio - One of the companies that serve the General Motors Assembly Plant in Lordstown has filed an official notice that it intends to close in March.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services has posted on its website a WARN notice from Comprehensive Logistics announcing that it will layoff what it describes as a “significant portion” of its workforce on March 8.

The notice, required for mass layoffs under the federal Worker Adjustment and Notification Act, does not give a specific number of planned layoffs, but the company says it will retain a small fraction of workers to close its Victoria Road facility in Austintown.

The company said it will notify ODJFS when the number of layoffs becomes known.

Comprehensive Logistics helps coordinate warehouse services and parts supplies for GM Lordstown.

White the notice says that Comprehensive Logistics “Team Members” are not represented by a union, the company’s Source Providers at the facility are members of the United Steelworker’s Union.

The company sent a letter to the union in December announcing that at least 180 people would lose their jobs when the facility shuts down because of General Motor’s decision to stop making the Chevy Cruze in Lordstown and not replace it with another product.

General Motors posted its WARN notice for the 1,600 workers remaining in Lordstown.

In addition, Magna’s Lordstown Seating Systems announced last month that it also plans to close its Henn Parkway plant in March, putting 120 UAW members out of a job.
