Three women were charged after an alleged home invasion in Warren.

Police were called to the 2000 block of Wallace Street SE just before 2:30 am on Monday.

Tahira Newsome, 23, of Erie Pennsylvania told police she was sleeping in bed with the owner of the house, a 30-year-old man,  when Shampaine Phifer, 24, and Taylor Phifer, 21, began banging on the back door.

The man opened the door and told police the Phifers pushed passed him and started allegedly attacking Newsome, according to the police report.

Newsome said she tried to use pepper spray to defend herself but didn't believe anything came out, so she attempted to get away.

The alleged fight then moved to the kitchen.

Newsome told police the two women began attacking her again and the man tried to break it up but was allegedly attacked as well, the report said. Newsome said she felt like she couldn't escape and grabbed a kitchen knife and began swinging it around.

Newsome said she was eventually able to get away.

Police say they later found Shampaine had a cut on her side and Taylor had a cut on her leg and a puncture on her side.

The man told police he had been in a relationship with Shampaine.

Police say the Phifers were taken to the hospital and then would be transported to the Trumbull County Jail after treatment.

The Phifers are charged with aggravated burglary and Newsome is charged with felonious assault.
