A Youngstown Firefighter has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Thirty-year-old Christopher Tripi was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on Thursday.

According to court records, Tripi is facing an assault charge following his arrest by the Youngstown U.S. Marshal Service.

WFMJ's print partner the Vindicator says the charge stems from an attack on his live-in girlfriend where Tripi allegedly hit, dragged and choked her.

Youngstown Fire Chief Barry Finley told 21 News that Tripi has been placed on paid administrative leave but could not comment further on the incident.

Tripi is on house arrest following a court appearance on Friday.
