A Warren funeral home claims in a lawsuit that another funeral home and one of its employees attempted to steal their clients.

Sinchak and Sons Funeral Home filed a civil lawsuit in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court against Staton-Borowski Funeral Home and Justin Kaszowski.

The lawsuit alleges that Kaszowski worked for Sinchack and Sons for 21 years until September when he left under “acrimonious” circumstances.

According to the lawsuit, when Kaszowski started working for Staton-Borowski in October, he mailed letters trying to lure away Sinchak and Sons clients who had made pre-planned funeral arrangments.

The suit alleges that Kaszowski made false statements to the clients, claiming that the Sinchaks were selling their funeral business.

Alleging trade secret violations, defamation by slander, and tortious interference, the lawsuit seeks damages of more than $25,000.

Neither defendant has filed a response to the lawsuit.
