Route 224 has re-opened, and power has been restored after an accident knocked out power and shut down part of the highway in Western Mahoning County early Tuesday.

A car crashed into a utility pole west of Route 534 in Mahoning County just after 4 am, snapping the pole in half and bringing down power lines onto Akron-Canfield Road.

One person has been taken to Mercy Hospital in Youngstown.  The identity of the victim or the extent of the injuries is not known.

According to FirstEnergy, 107 homes and businesses were without power because of the crash.

All power has since been restored.
