GROVE CITY, Pa. - Grove City council met Monday night and discussed limiting the number of guests in an Airbnb house and the number of pets a resident can have.

After input from residents during a hearing in January and receiving public comments,  council decided to change their original proposal.

Now up to five cats or ten dogs, or a combination of five and five would be allowed in a home, which is more than what was first discussed. The first proposal was up to three cats or six dogs or a combination of two and four. They hope this proposal will prevent hoarding.

When it comes to short term rentals like Airbnb, more adults could also stay at a home. The proposal says that two people per bedroom plus an additional guest can be in the dwelling and an unlimited number of minors.

The original concept was to limit these rentals to two adult guests per dwelling with an unlimited number of children.

"I guess in the Poconos, and other vacation type rental places, there are problems with parties and excessive occupancy. That could cause an issue. The borough wanted to be preemptive. In case there was a situation, they already had an ordinance on the books that would at least address it," said Taylor Pokrant, Zoning and Code Enforcement Officer for the borough of Grove City.

This proposal has not yet been voted on by council as the solicitor will review it.
