Ohio's Attorney General says that investigators have identified a 'person of interest' in a seven-year-old Salem cold murder case.

In December 2012, Melinda Todd was murdered and found dead in her Salem Township home alongside her biological grandchild 5-year-old Cole Tyler Reed.

Reed was found severely injured and had to undergo several surgeries and months of physical therapy because of his injuries.

It was later determined that both had been beaten with a blunt instrument.

Todd's 12-year-old daughter got off the school bus, went inside the family's State Route 45 and Salamar Drive home and found her mother murdered, and her five-year-old brother in a puddle of blood, but still breathing.

A media release from Attorney General Dave Yost did not give the name of the person of interest being investigated.

"We believe that there are members of the public with details pertaining to the case – now is the time to come forward and hold this killer accountable," said Yost.
