Summer school classes are expected to resume in Youngstown Friday after water damage caused a cancellation on Thursday.

Chaney High School and Rayen Early College Middle School were closed Thursday because of a break in a sprinkler line that caused flooding in parts of the building.

District spokesperson Denise Dick tells 21 News that water damage extended to four rooms on the second floor and five rooms on the first floor.

She says crews spent Thursday replacing several ceiling tiles and vacuuming up water from soggy carpets.

Dick also said several boxes of copy paper were ruined and some attendance records were damaged.

The sprinkler system has been repaired, according to Dick.
