Youngstown's Penguin City Beer to release limited edition beer can design
Youngstown's Penguin City Brewing Company will celebrate its first anniversary with a release of its official 2019 YSU Football beer can.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown's Penguin City Brewing Company will celebrate its first anniversary with a release of its official 2019 YSU Football beer can.
Penguin City Beer is set to unveil a limited-edition beer can design commemorating the 1994 YSU Football National Championship team.
The team went undefeated with a 14-0-1 record.
“Being able to celebrate these milestones with our city is so important to us,” said Aspasia Lyras-Bernacki, co-owner of Penguin City Beer. “Especially during a time where people might not believe in what Youngstown can accomplish as a city. We want to be a company people can depend on and trust that we’re not going anywhere. Youngstown is our home, and we will continue to make it our home and strive to make this city and the Mahoning Valley the best it can be.”
Penguin City Beer is the first local brewery that will be sold at YSU games.
“The YSU can was something we needed to make memorable and collectible for fans,” said Michael Pontikos, brand manager for Penguin City Beer.
On August 30 at 6 p.m., Penguin City Brewing Company is extending an invitation to the public to come and help celebrate not only the can release, but the company’s anniversary.
Local bands East 9th, an alternative indie rock band and Whiskey Pilot, a post indie band, will start at 7 p.m. on the outdoor stage next to the brewery.
You will also be able to go inside the brewery and get a tour, buy merchandise, six-packs, and cases of Penguin City to take home and enjoy.
During the party, the Boxcar Lounge will be open for food and drinks.
Penguin City Brewing Company was founded back in 2017.
YSU's first home game of the season is Saturday, September 7 at 2 p.m.
