After a Niles mother lost her life Monday saving a 12-year-old boy from drowning, the mother of that boy is trying to help the woman's family.

Christine Beheler, who turned 41 on Monday, drowned in Mosquito Lake when she saw Jessica Marvin's son struggling near the buoy as his sister and best friend also cried for help.

Beheler rushed out to save the child before she too became overwhelmed in the water and later died at the hospital.

She leaves behind four school-age children.

Marvin said she created the GoFundMe because the family will now have to figure out how to pay for funeral expenses, medical bills, and switching schools as they get older.

"I want to do all that I can to help with that. My son is still here because of her selfless act. I can never repay her," said Marvin.

As of 2 p.m. on Thursday, the page reached $2,880 out of a $5,000 goal.
