With the start of the home portion of the Youngstown State football season five weeks away, work is moving along on the new Don Constantini Multimedia Center on the east side of Stambaugh Stadium.

21 Sports was given a tour of the facility Friday morning.

About 15 workers are diligently making sure the facility is ready for the September 7 home opener against Howard.

There are eight separate areas for coaches, TV, home and visitor radio, scoreboard operator, replay, and working press box.

'We've always had a great press facility on the west side, now we're looking forward to the east side and being down about 40 feet," said YSU Sports Information Director Trevor Parks.

The new multimedia center will house classrooms for YSU communication students and house the sports communications staff.

The facility will also house the control room for football, basketball, and other sports broadcasts.

Also part of the construction is a new 300 space parking lot directly behind the east stands and Beeghly Center.

"It'll be great for The WATTS, people won't have to walk over the highway anymore," Parks said. "Come basketball season; it'll be great for fans to park there and walk into Beeghly Center, especially in the winter."

Parks is confident the Constantini Multimedia Center will be ready for the home opener, September 7 against Howard.

"The schedule they (the workers) have lined up for the next month, we're hoping to get in the day after Labor Day and do what we need to get ready for the game," Parks said.
