The person of interest in a double murder who was the subject of a search in Mercer County has been spotted in a city nearly 800 miles away according to police.

The St. Johns County Sherriff's Office reports that there were three sightings of Jack Elijah Turner in the St. Augustine, Florida area on Tuesday.

A Tweet from the sheriff's public information office states that Turner should be considered armed and dangerous.

Turner is wanted for questioning in connection with Saturday's murder of 49-year-old Shannon Whitman and her ten-year-old son, whose bodies were found in their Randolph Township home in Crawford County.

An area-wide search for Turner included Sandy Lake in Mercer County on Monday.

Turner is not charged with the murders but is charged with stealing a car from the murder scene.  He is also wanted for the robbery of an Erie area gas station following the murders.

Turner is described as a white male with dark brown hair, brown eyes, 5' 11”, 145 pounds with a tattoo covering his right hand. Turner has trimmed eyebrows and frequently wears what appears to be diamond stud earrings in both ears.

He may be driving the missing car, described as a grey/silver 2009 Lincoln MKS sedan with license number KXW5126.

Anyone with information about Turner's whereabouts is asked to call PSP Meadville 814-332-6911.
