A local church is challenging other parishes to 'Go Whole Hog.'

First Federated Church in North Jackson has bought a hog for either Second Harvest Food Bank or the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley for more than ten years, but this year they are donating one to each.

According to the release, the Valley is the second-highest food insecure area in the nation.

The church buys the hog from a local 4-H member each year.

“What better way to provide exceptionally high-quality food for people who can’t afford it while supporting the efforts of our local 4-H members,” said Jack Acri, Pastor of First Federated Church.

Grinding Equipment of Youngstown is a partner in the initiative.

First Federated Church's pantry serves over 2,000 people per year.
