ITHICA, New York - Hartford star Jenna Bridges had 21 kills in 27 attempts to lead the Hawks to a three-set victory over the Youngstown State volleyball team on Saturday afternoon at the Cornell Invitational in Ithica, N.Y.

Bridges, last season’s America East Player of the Year, accounted for 21 of Hartford’s 46 kills. The senior hit .667 individually, which helped the Hawks post a .315 attack percentage collectively.

Brooklen Pe’a led the Penguins with seven kills, and Aleah Hughes registered 12 digs. YSU all-tournament team selection Alexia Byrnes had 23 assists and eight digs.

Hartford went on a 15-4 run in the opening set to win 25-14, but Youngstown State battled in the second. The Penguins trailed just 22-21 following back-to-back kills by Aimee Beaupre and Hughes, but a YSU serving error led to a three-point Hartford run that ended the set. The Hawks won the third 25-17.
