Warren business victim of bogus check-cashing scheme

WARREN, Ohio - The operator a Warren business is telling police that a bogus check-cashing scheme left the company unable to make payroll.
According to a police report, someone cashed $13,350 worth of bogus checks bearing the name of “Family and Friends Home Care LLC., which has an office on West Market Street but is based in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
The owner of the home health care business told an officer that the numbers on the two checks that have been cashed are higher than numbers on the checks currently being used by the company.
One check was cashed in the amount of $3,475, and the second bogus check was for $9,875.
The police report says that the unauthorized withdrawals have brought financial hardship to Family and Freinds, resulting in bounced checks and an inability to make payroll.
While police continue to investigate, the owner is working with a bank to change checking account numbers.
