Warren man accused of holding woman hostage held without bond

WARREN, Ohio - The Warren man accused of holding a woman and her children hostage was in court Thursday for his arraignment.
A judge decided that Shawn Riley will be held without bond.
The judge said that the hostage situation occurred while he was on probation.
Riley's court appearance comes after he allegedly caused injuries to a woman, leaving her with cuts and bruises during the four hour incident at a Warren apartment.
The female victim is the mother of Riley's three daughters.
Police reports say Riley pulled out a pocket knife and dragged her by her hair into the apartment.
Police say Riley put his three daughters, all under the age of ten, into a bedroom before cutting the woman's face with a knife.
According to the report, the woman began to lose consciousness, and her face was cut, bruised, and swollen.
She was taken to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment after the situation.
The prosecution showed pictures of the victim's injuries at the arraignment.
Riley will be back in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing.
