Huskies found wandering in Mill Creek Park up for adoption

YOUNGSTOWN - The Mahoning County Dog Warden is looking for someone to adopt two dogs found wandering in Mill Creek Park last month, both dragging leashes behind them.
Park police say the two huskies were spotted in the park shortly before Christmas.
Since both dogs were leashed, police wondered if something had happened to their owner while walking in the park.
Police say after an exhaustive search of the area turned up no sign of the owner, the dogs were turned over to the Mahoning County Dog Warden.
Dog pound officials have named the huskies Heaven and Nevaeh, saying the owner has not come forward to claim them.
After extending the usual three-day stray hold so that the owner or family of the owner would have extra time to contact them, the dog warden is trying to find a new home for the dogs.
Both of the dogs are female, according to the pound. One is about two to three years old. The other husky is five to six years old.
Pound officials say they want to keep the dogs together since they have bonded. The adopter must also know the specific needs of the breed and have experience with their breed.
Prospective adopters can obtain an application by emailing a request to ssabol@mahoningcountyoh.gov.
After applications are reviewed, meet and greets will be scheduled.
