YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A familiar sight for residents on Youngstown's west side is coming down after sitting vacant for years.

Crews began work tearing down the McDonald's on Mahoning Avenue Tuesday.

Before closing down, the restaurant had been a fixture of the city's west side since it was built in 1960.

In recent years, the building had been sitting vacant and boarded up.

So far, it's not clear if there are any plans for what may be next for the site.
