Local city leaders address coronavirus concerns

YOUNGSTOWN - Local mayors and health officials came together in Youngstown Thursday to talk about their efforts to combat the coronavirus outbreak.
The group included mayors from Youngstown, Warren, Struthers, Lowellville, and Campbell. Health commissioners from Youngstown and Warren were also there.
The mayors covered a wide range of steps being taken to help minimize the risk of coronavirus.
Access to city halls and government buildings will be restricted to essential business.
Both Warren and Youngstown are suspending in-person payments of water bills until further notice.
Conference calls rather than meetings will now do a lot of normal government business.
Court proceedings will also be limited to essential parties.
The mayors say this is going to change the way we live, and they are bracing for an impact on the local economy.
"It will have an impact on our local revenues and our income tax collections. We'll probably see some spike in overtime, particularly in our safety forces department, so we're prepared," Warren Mayor Doug Franklin said.
Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown added, "When we leave from this press conference, the life that we know right now after we have this conversation is going to change for all of us."
The local leaders say they're taking these steps, so we don't end up overwhelming our local healthcare system.
