FINDLEY TWP., Pa. - A man was killed while riding his motorcycle in Mercer County Saturday evening.

State police said 56-year-old Thomas Sheran of Pittsburgh was riding southbound on I-79 onto the I-80 westbound entrance ramp at 5:30 p.m. in Findley Township when he drove off of the roadway on the eastern side of the entrance ramp.

That's where Sheran struck a ditch and then a tree, according to police.

Sheran was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said he was wearing his helmet at the time of the crash.

There were no adverse weather conditions at the time of the crash, and it appears no other vehicles were involved, according to police.

The crash is under investigation.
