Commissioners will be listening to elected officials to come to a consensus about how to open offices to the public again.

The courthouse has been open to provide essential services by appointment only.

An important part of that discussion will be on PPE or Personal Protective Equipment.

Commissioner Tim Weigle said, "It's a priority to protect employees and the public. We are going to issue our employees masks and more than just one. We'll also be issuing them gloves other than latex, some of our employees have allergies to latex, and we will also be issuing them plastic face shields so if they have an interaction with the public, they will have protection with their eyes. When people enter the courthouse, we will ask the same questions we asked before."

Weigle said they will also be taking temperatures and is thinking of requiring the public to wear masks.

"The target date for opening is May 8th, for the courts to open, but we have to reach a consensus on that. In the courthouse, we will use social distancing of six feet or more. Our folks are anxious to get back to work, and we are too, but we want to protect the employees. We want to make sure that we are consistent in what we do," added Weigle.

As for the tax revenue, Weigle said he is concerned, since they have not seen the impact yet.

"By June we should see the impact. I think we are going to be about two million dollars short in sales tax revenue.  Seventy percent of our general fund budget is generated by sales taxes. We hope it doesn't carry over into July and August," he said.
