Ohio is a couple of days away from reopening restaurants and bars for indoor dining since moving to carry-out only in the middle of March.

Patios and outdoor dining resumed on May 15 with social distancing and other guidelines in place.

Governor DeWine said in his coronavirus briefing on Monday that most restaurants did a good job while also warning of the significant risk to their reopening due to photos circulating of large crowds not adhering to social distancing measures.

The state is still moving forward with the reopening of indoor dining and with it comes regulations.

Some of the regulations put forth are:

  • Social distancing of at least six feet or barriers between seating if the distancing is not possible
  • Allowing for the use of facial coverings by staff and patrons
  • Daily symptom assessments for employees
  • Requiring symptomatic employees to stay home
  • Require regular hand washing by employees
  • Limit number of employees in break rooms at one time

Dining parties will also be limited to 10 people or less due to guidelines against large gatherings.

Daily cleaning is also included in the guidelines and parts of restaurants that are "open congregate" areas will remain closed. That includes areas that have billiards, arcade games and card playing.
