The Community Action Rural Transit System's rider fares will be free for the general public to help people get around town during the coronavirus pandemic.

The purpose is to give people a break during the pandemic – where they may be short on cash and still need to go places.

CARTS will continue to offer rides at no cost as long as the funding is available.

They're also taking extra steps to increase cleaning of high-touch areas such as door handles, railings, seats and benches with disinfectant throughout each shift. Buses, vans and other vehicles are sanitized daily. Drivers and other staff members who interact with the public are using face masks, gloves and hand sanitizer to help safeguard customers and employees. It is recommended that riders wear face coverings.
