The governor says Wedding venues and banquet halls in Ohio can reopen on June 1st, as long as they follow social distancing guidelines.

One restriction is a biggie...no dancing.

Lt. Gov. Jon Husted made the announcement Thursday afternoon. He says the restrictions will match those made for restaurants.

"This will mean 6 foot distancing between tables, no congregating and for the immediate future crowd sizes will be limited in those facilities to 300," said Husted.

Ciminero's Banquet Center in Niles has had to postpone 18 wedding receptions so far during the pandemic. They are just happy to get back in business.

"I'm very, very excited. Wish it would have came sooner. Wish it would have came today with the restaurants but we're happy that we'll be able to open our doors the first of the months of June," said owner, Tony Ciminero.

Ciminero's usually hosts around 45 wedding receptions a year. All of the one's who could not have theirs this year rescheduled for 2021. Right now, though, receptions scheduled for more than 300 guests, those couples will need to make some changes.

"Some of the larger weddings that we have booked, that have stayed booked have indicated they will cut their list down," added Ciminero.

Weddings and graduation parties will be capped at 300 but other events will still have to follow the state's mass gathering recommendation which still remains at just 10 people.
