Gyms reopening: What you need to know

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Gyms in Ohio are allowed to reopen Tuesday after being closed for months due to coronavirus concerns.
Governor Mike DeWine's Responsible Restart Ohio outlined safety requirements for the reopening of gyms.
Included in the plan are the removal of seating in gyms and equipment being spaced out to promote social distancing.
Below are some of the safety guidelines set forth for gym owners to get their facilities ready for patrons.
- Set capacity limits based on space and social distancing
- Set up facility for social distancing with equipment spacing to provide six-foot radius
- Class settings should be set up with six-foot spacing
- Remove excess seating to discourage lingering
- Reduce class sizes if needed
- Eliminate lost and founds
- Hand washing or sanitation upon entering facility
- Provide sanitation products for patrons and regularly sanitize facility
- Require face coverings for employees
Some best practices are also listed and recommended including discouraging the use of locker rooms and showers, setting aside hours for vulnerable populations and limiting the use of fans in facilities.
