The Western Reserve Transit Authority is installing new bus stop signs along many of the routes in Mahoning County and in Warren.

The new signs display a unique code for that stop that riders can text to 321-123 from their mobile phones. The rider will receive an automated reply that show will show the next buses scheduled at that stop, with arrival times.

“The bus stop signs are designed to give our riders a clear indication of where they should stand if they want to catch one of our fixed-route buses,” said WRTA Executive Director Dean Harris. “We’re encouraging riders to wait by these signs to board the bus. It’s a convenience as well as a safety issue.”

Harris says WRTA expects to have bus stop signs on every fixed-route within a few months.
