Juneteenth is the name given to June 19, 1865, when slaves in Texas were notified that they were finally free, two years after Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.

This event has been been a yearly event in the city since 2002, and the event will take place on Saturday, June 27, in Quinby Park in Warren.

The event is being planned by IVoteBlack and the Trumbull County Chapter of the A. Philip Randolph Institute, according to a member of the event planning committee, Lea Dotson.

This year's event will run from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. and will feature local talent, speakers, and music, including The Michael Austin Project and a deejay from Star 94.7.
