Odds-on-favorite Tiz the Law became the first New York-bred horse to win the Belmont Stakes.

Typically the last jewel of the Triple Crown, the Run for the Carnations kicked off the trifecta.  This year's event had no spectators and was shortened from 1 1/2 miles to 1 1/8 miles.

Out of the gates, Tap it to Win took the early lead, but Tiz the Law took over on the sweeping turn and never looked back...eventually finishing 4 1/2 lengths ahead of second place finisher Dr. Post.  Linda Rice's Max Player took 3rd

Tiz the Law opened the race at 4/5 odds and paid $3.60 to win.  Dr. Post at 7-1 odds paid $5.80 to place, and Max Player(14-1 odds) paid $5.20 to show.

Jockey Manuel Franco earned his first Triple Crown victory in his first jewel race.

The Kentucky Derby which was rescheduled for September 5th is next, with the Preakness Stakes taking place on October 3rd.
