Governor Mike DeWine has ordered Ohio and U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff to honor the life and service of Ohio Marine, Sgt. Wolfgang Kyle Weninger.

According to the Associated Press, Sgt. Weninger was a 28-year-old special operations Marine from Geauga County who died Tuesday at Ft. Benning in Georgia during a parachute jump.

The military has not detailed the circumstances of his death, which it says is under investigation.

Flags should be flown at half-staff on all public buildings and grounds throughout Geauga County and at the Ohio Statehouse, Vern Riffe Center, and Rhodes Tower in Columbus.

Flags shall remain lowered until sunset on the day of his funeral.

All other public buildings and grounds throughout the state may fly the United States and Ohio flags at half-staff at their discretion for the same time period.
