Some Ohio lawmakers have introduced a bill in honor of Ohio's former health department director, Dr. Amy Acton.

The legislation would designate February 26 as "Dr. Amy Acton Day."

The primary sponsors of the bill are Democratic Representatives Kent Smith (Euclid) and Mary Lightbody (Westerville). The bill is co-sponsored by Rep. Michael O'Brien (D-Warren). 

Back in June, Acton resigned as the Ohio Department of Health director. 

Lance Himes is serving as the interim director for the health department.
