HARRISBURG, Pa. - A couple of highway projects in Mercer and Lawrence counties are getting nearly $2 million from the state.

Governor Tom Wolf has announced that 27 highway, bridge, transit, and bike and pedestrian projects in 23 counties were selected for $30.2 million in funding through the Multimodal Transportation Fund.

Included in that amount is $1.7 million for improvements to Farrell’s Idaho Street, Spearman Avenue, and Darr Avenue, including repaving the roadways.

In addition, damaged sidewalks will be replaced, and a public bike rack will be installed.

In Lawrence County, $228,637 is earmarked for the installation of a traffic signal control at the intersection of State Route 18 and Oakwood Way to improve safety and efficiency for vehicles and pedestrians at the intersection.

Both projects will put crossings in compliance with the American Disabilities Act.
