Youngstown City School District Board of Education voted Wednesday evening to place a 10.8 mill renewal levy on the November ballot.

“I’m very pleased that the board recognizes the importance of this levy and voted to place it on the ballot for voters to decide,” said YCSD CEO
Justin Jennings.

The levy was initially approved by district voters in 2008 and generates about $5.3 million annually.

The levy was most recently approved by voters in 2015 and expires at the end of 2020.

If approved, the levy would continue for four years, beginning in 2021.

The board voted 6-1 to place the levy on the ballot with member Jackie Adair cast the lone dissenting vote, saying that the board needed more time to have an in-depth discussion on the levy.
