MERCER, Pa. - One-hundred-and-thirty-one workers at two manufacturing plants in Mercer County face layoffs according to a notice filed by new owners.

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry has received August 10 WARN notice typed on Mercer Forge letterhead.  WARN Notices of mass layoffs are mandated under the Federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.

The letter is from Jo LeMoine, Vice President of Human Resources, Neenah Enterprises, which announced it is selling Mercer Forge to Milwaukee Forge.

The sale includes not only the sale of Mercer Forge facilities on Brown Street and South Erie in Mercer Borough but also the facility on First Street in Wheatland.

The notice says “certain” employees will be laid off beginning in mid-August. The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry website lists the number of impacted employees as 131.
