Sharon Speedway to host race with spectators this weekend

SHARON, Pa. -
After being closed down for two months, the Sharon Speedway in Trumbull County will once again hold races this weekend for their annual "Apple Festival Nationals" event.
It's a venue that can pack in over 10-thousand people when completely full, but things will look a lot different come Friday.
"It's very safe to be here," said General Manager Dave Willoughby.
Fans will be in attendance.
It's considered a sporting event, so the same rules apply.
In Ohio, 1,500 people or 15 percent capacity is permitted.
They are anticipating anywhere from 800 to a thousand people to show up.
"We are encouraging everyone to get their tickets online just to avoid the unnecessary lines and contact with people."
Following all CDC and local health guidelines, everyone must wear a mask at all times.
They're also asking anyone who is sick or shows any kind of symptoms to stay at home.
They have hand sanitizing stations throughout the area and said they have taken extra precautions at the concession stands.
While they've lost out on nearly the entire racing season, they're hoping to get in a few extra laps following the Apple Fest.
"We are just fortunate we can get open here and see what happens and hopefully we can get through the weekend and everybody abides by the CDC guidelines while they are here and maybe run a few extra races after we get through this one."
