The Village of Lordstown will not have any trick-or-treating this Halloween.

Lordstown Mayor Arno Hill said the decision was made to cancel trick-or-treating at a council meeting on Monday.

Village officials made the decision after the CDC guidance that urged people to avoid things like traditional trick-or-treating, where treats are handed to kids who go door to door, Hill said.

Hill added that council thought about all the senior citizens in the community and how they may not want to come to the door. Officials wanted to err on the side of caution.
