Wednesday morning, first responders in Youngstown were given the modern vaccine, with the fire chief Barry Finley being the first.

Erin Bishop, the Youngstown Health Commissioner, said: " We're making history by stepping forward and showing confidence in the modern vaccine."

The Director of American Medical Response Edward Powers and Fire Chief Barry Finley, hope that this will boost confidence in the vaccine.

"I believe the only way to lead is to lead from the front and if you lead, people will follow," Powers said.

Finley added, " We're on the front lines and we're always going to be on the front lines."

Along with boost confidence, Finley and powers say with protections against this deadly virus, and they can better save lives on the front lines.

A shot in the right direction, the responders, will be back for a second dose in a few weeks.
