A Farrell man turned 21 years old in jail on Monday as he awaits sentencing for murdering a man two-and-a-half years ago.

Jaylaun Coleman was scheduled to go on trial this month for the August 2018 shooting death of 21-year-old Tyrone Cornish Jr. in Sharon.

However, Coleman pleaded guilty late last week to one count of third-degree murder and 12 counts of recklessly endangering another person.

Coleman was 18 years old when he was arrested for the shooting death of Cornish who was found with a neck wound in a parking lot of an apartment complex.  Cornish was taken to Sharon Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Friends and family of the victim created a memorial in the lot where Cornish had been shot.

Sentencing for Coleman is scheduled for June 25 before a judge in Mercer County.
