New anonymous cards to report illegal activity in the Valley

Mahoning Valley - The city of Youngstown started a new initiative Tuesday through its A.C.T.I.O.N. program to continue the fight against violence in the Mahoning Valley.
You'll now find yellow cards scattered throughout the community to allow anyone the opportunity to report any suspected illegal activity anonymously.
"The work with action that we're doing today is just another layer for individuals to report trouble spots," Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown said, "We're calling them hot spots, but it's another opportunity to build better communication with the community where they can share what they know because they are the eyes and ears of the community."
The yellow cards can be found in public places like grocery stores, churches, and the police department. Anyone can fill them out and send them to P.O. Box 456 of Youngstown or a local church. The A.C.T.I.O.N. program will monitor the cards, enter them into a database, and assign them to the police department. Confidential information can also be reported through phone at 330-775-9884, or by e-mail at actionoh@aol.com.
Rose Carter, The founder of A.C.T.I.O.N., said the program will follow up with the police after about a month to make sure the situation was taken care of.
The Mayor and Youngstown Police Chief said this is another step to build trust and work towards a safer community.
"When we get the cards, we will scan them just like we would do with any police report," Davis said, "And then this card goes to the proper agency within the police department."
21 News also followed up with the city on the progress of its proposed "Citizen Review Board" which was announced it was in the works last month. This board would monitor complaints made against the police department. Youngstown Councilwoman Anita Davis said, "further discussion" is taking place this week. Davis said the goal is for the board to be up and running this summer.
