Raccoon blamed for cutting power to thousands in Trumbull County
A FirstEnergy spokesperson says a raccoon got into a substation near Routes 5 and 82 in Champion, causing the outages.

BAZETTA TWP., Ohio - FirstEnergy says an animal is the cause of an outage that cut power to nearly two-thirds of Bazetta Township and others in Trumbull County.
As of 5:30 a.m., FirstEnergy reported 4,600 outages, including nearly 1,900 in Bazetta Township, which is 60% of the community.
The remaining outages were in other communities, including Howland where 25% of the township was without power.
By 8 am, the number of outages had been cut in half with most of them in Bazetta and Mecca Townships. FirstEnergy says power was fully restored shortly thereafter.
