Driver alleges robbery at Warren street corner

Detectives are investigating claims from a Warren man who said he was abducted and robbed while driving through the city.
The 20-year-old man told police that a woman walked up to his car at Mercer Avenue and Washington Street NE and began talking to him at around 5 a.m. Thursday.
The man told officers that a man came up from behind, grabbed him, placed a gun to his head, and took him to a nearby home.
The alleged victim, who said the suspects claimed that he owed them money, told police he didn’t know the two people and told them they must have the wrong person.
According to the report, the suspects took the man’s phone, keys, and wallet containing more than $400.
The man said he could leave but was told he would be killed if he told the police what happened. He went to a relative’s home on Atlantic Street and called the police.
Officers suggested that the man cancel his credit cards.
The report is not clear on how the man was forced from his car to the home.
