Flash lights up sky as power cut in Hubbard area

Hundreds of homes and businesses in the Hubbard area spent early Wednesday in the dark following a widespread power outage.

HUBBARD, Ohio - Hundreds of homes and businesses in the Hubbard area spent early Wednesday in the dark following a widespread power outage.

A viewer sent 21 News dashcam video of a bright flash that filled the sky as a car entered the city along Youngstown-Hubbard Road shortly before 1:30 a.m.

Trumbull County 9-1-1 dispatchers said they were inundated with calls from people wanting to know what happened to the power.

Dispatchers say the explosion occurred around Moore and Erie Streets near Main Street.

Crews worked throughout the morning to restore power.

21 News is working to learn more about what caused the outage.
