Prison ordered for man who assaulted Astro Shapes co-worker

YOUNGSTOWN - A man who was once one of the U.S. Marshal's most wanted fugitives is going to prison for beating a woman at a Struthers business.
Eddie Crook Jr., 29, was sentenced to 3 to 5 years in prison on Monday after pleading guilty earlier to felonious assault and grand theft.
Crook, from Youngstown, was accused of assaulting a fellow employee at the Astro Shapes manufacturing plant in Struthers.
According to a police report, officers were called to Astro Shapes on July 4, where they found a 33-year-old woman with blood on her face, hands, and shirt.
Witnesses told police that Crook punched the woman in the face after she corrected him several times as she was training him to operate a machine at the plant.
The police report says Crook, who was from a temporary employment agency, left the plant after the incident.
The woman was taken to the Mercy Hospital Trauma Unit for treatment of her injuries. A relative of the victim told police she required surgery for a broken jaw and face fracture.
Crook became a fugitive, placed on the U.S. Marshal's Most Wanted list until the end of August when he showed up with a gunshot wound at Mercy Hospital where he was arrested.
The incident also resulted in a civil negligence suit filed by Astro Shapes against Crook and the agency hired to screen temporary employees like him. Astro Shapes is seeking the cost of medical and benefits it has been paying the victim.
