STRUTHERS, Ohio - Struthers Police have charged the father of a toddler with child endangering again after his two-year-old son was found wandering alone for the second time in two months.

Cody Shields was scheduled for arraignment in Struthers Municipal Court on Friday after being arrested at his Sexton Avenue home the day before.

A woman said she called the police after finding the tot outside and unsupervised late Thursday morning.  The woman said the child was wearing a dirty diaper.

An officer knocked on the door of the boy’s home. When Shields came to the door, he was arrested.

Shields already has an additional child endangering case pending against him.  Police charged him after finding his son wandering on March 26. After further investigation, police say they found that the child had been living in deplorable conditions.

On Thursday police called the child’s mother home from work to care for her son while the father was taken to jail.

Police told the mother that since is the second time the boy was found unsupervised; they may talk to a prosecutor about filing charges against her as well.
